Ok let me get this straight. If you win the East division you get a first round bye to host your conference final and same goes for the West correct? My next question applies to this season specifically. The 4 Western teams are all going to finish with a better record than Winnipeg so what who is going to HOST the Eastern semi final? I am assuming the Western team would host Winnipeg right because they will have the better record but just seems strange to have a Western team HOSTING and "EASTERN" semi final? How is it determined from 3-6 seeds as far as who plays who and who hosts who with the crossover? I know how it works generally so this question pertains specifcally to hosting and seeding only. Thanks!

2nd in the East hosts the East Semi-final, no matter how pathetic their record may bet. This means that Winnipeg will almost certainly host the West Semis.

The #2 in the East hosts the #4 in the West. If the West team wins, they still move on to face #1 in the East for the right to go to the Grey Cup. You will get a ton of value with that West team come playoff time!

Ok so Winnipeg will be hosting the #4 team in the West and then the #2 team in the West hosts the #3 team in the West right?

The #2 team in the east will host the #4 in the west regardless of record, but the #2 is not necessarily winnipeg...yet.

And regarding "value" on that #4 team. I wouldnt be so sure. The west team will be a huge favorite, and the crossover team has never won a playoff game in the leagues history since they adopted the crossover rule (0-4).

I really doubt the West is favoured by more than a FG.

Also, if the game is in Winnipeg, the most Western of the East teams, the travel will be so much less of a major factor.
